Our Rainbow stripe has been 8 years in the making. For those of you that don't know, this brand was born when my daughter, Maggie, was born.
It was when I was finding my feet as a new mum to Maggie I was living in t-shirts and jeans and finding that nothing fitted me well.
So why did having my first baby make me launch my own brand of great fitting, everyday t-shirts...?
1. My lifestyle changed overnight, meaning that for the first time ever I was dressing 100% for myself and my new mum-life rather than for a job.
2. My body changed which meant things I already owned didn't feel the same way they had before. They hung and fitted completely differently and I now needed something else from my clothes.
3. The functionality of my clothes had changed - they now had to serve me with maximum comfort, the best washability, endless versatility and the most practicality.
When it came to the everyday t-shirts that I found myself reaching for and living in, day in and day out, I couldn't find what I was looking for anywhere. This is why Ivy exists and why 6 1/5 years on, over 10,000 other women are now with us on this journey.
So why Rainbows...?
Maggie is quite literally our rainbow baby. I had 2 miscarriages before she was born. I won't go into my experience of loss, but needless to say, she was desperately wanted and Maggie was our miracle.
She has seen me surrounded by stripes on a daily basis her whole life, and for as long as I can remember she has been asking why we didn’t have a rainbow stripe - an obvious question for a girl who loves rainbows. I promised her that one day I would do one for her, so 8 years later, this is her stripe.🌈
Which meant, of course, it had to be available in kids sizes too, so that they can feel (and look!) as great as we do!
So, here it is. For women and for kids. Maggie and I have agonised for months over the right colours, the setting of the stripe and which styles to make it in. Of course it is in our Maggie Crew, but also our Audrey because I know that is also what so many of you would like.
I owe this entire business to Maggie and my experience of life since becoming a mum and these t-shirts represent all of that. I hope you love it as much as Maggie and I do.
P.S. If you don't already know, all of our t's are named after my kids, my friends' kids and my families' kids. At the time of launch, all of my friends seemed to be having girl babies and it just felt right to use their beautiful names for our styles.
