Our Sourcing - Made with care in Portugal

The people behind your Ivy clothes

We believe that where your clothes are made matters just as much as what they are made from. That’s why we choose to work with a long established, family rooted manufacturer in northern Portugal, with decades of expertise and experience in making high quality jersey clothing.

For us, choosing a factory isn’t simply about finding somewhere that can make beautiful clothes. It’s about finding people who share our values - around quality, responsibility, sustainability and, most importantly, how people are treated.

People matter

Behind every Ivy garment is a person who has made it. Our manufacturing partner places great importance on the people who work there, with a commitment to ethical working practices, health and safety, employee wellbeing and professional development.

They are SA8000 certified, an internationally recognised standard for social accountability covering areas such as human rights, working conditions and employee wellbeing.

We don’t believe that making clothes responsibly stops at choosing organic cotton. It also means caring about the people who turn that cotton into the clothes you wear.

Making better use of resources

The factory in Portugal continually look for ways to reduce their environmental impact and use resources more responsibly, from reducing water and energy consumption to separating and recycling textile waste, paper, cardboard and plastics.

They have also invested in more efficient technologies and processes, including systems designed to reduce water use within their laundry processes.

Quality over quantity

Our factory partner has decades of experience in circular knitwear and specialises in making the kind of jersey garments Ivy is known for.

Together we spend time choosing our fabrics, developing our shapes and getting the fit right because we want your clothes to be worn - really worn, and to become pieces that earn their place in your wardrobe and stay there for years.

A shared way of thinking

We share key values in how our clothes are made: Quality. Craftsmanship. Innovation. Ethics. Sustainability. Social responsibility.

These are values that run through our manufacturing partnership and sit alongside the values that have shaped the Ivy brand.

We believe in buying less and choosing well. In natural, considered materials. In fair working conditions. In making things properly rather than quickly and cheaply.

And we believe you deserve to know a little more about the journey your clothes have taken before they reach your wardrobe.

From Portugal to your wardrobe

Our clothes are designed in the Cotswolds and made in Portugal, where skilled teams turn our carefully chosen organic cotton fabrics into the pieces you know and love.

So when you put on a piece of Ivy clothing, you’re wearing something that has been thoughtfully designed, carefully made and created with people and planet in mind.
