This feature was planned before the current COVID-19 crisis, but we still wanted to share these looks with you. For now we might not have anywhere to go, but we hope you find this inspiring and can possibly help you to build looks now and in the future.
THE LEATHER JACKET: Undeniably an investment piece. If you find a classic shape to suit you, in beautiful soft leather, then the cost per wear will be minimal and it will never lose its value. Easily dressed up for a polished look for work or an evening out with tailored trousers. Channel your inner James Dean by styling with a white Maggie crew t-shirt and blue jeans for a chic but relaxed feel.
THE WHITE SNEAKER: Canvas, leather, high top, low top, we all need a few pairs of white sneakers that can be worn for running quick errands, the school drop off and even going out out. A wardrobe essential that will see you through most seasons with summer dresses (layer an Ivy t-shirt under a camisole style), skirts, shorts, jeans, tailored trousers, they are comfortable and classic.
THE SKNNY JEAN: Denim fits come and go and then come back around again, but we believe the skinny jean will be a classic that is always current. Once you find a skinny jean that works for you, get it in a few different washes. Simply let the fit of the jeans and the Ivy t-shirt do the talking for the perfect weekend wardrobe.
THE WHITE T-SHIRT: Ok, we are obviously slightly biased here, but no wardrobe is complete without a perfect fitting white t-shirt in a great quality, soft cotton. The classic t that looks fresh all year round, whether crew neck or v neck, long sleeved or short. Wear with tailoring, jeans or layered under a jumpsuit, a great white t-shirt will make your outfit look effortless even if you've put a lot of thought into it.
THE DENIM JACKET: Dark or bleach wash, coloured or black denim, trucker, utility, western or cropped, a denim jacket is part of the ultimate spring and summer uniform. To get longevity throughout the rest of the year, layer up over t-shirts and jumpers and under blazers and winter coats. Go for double denim or get a super casual look over t's, hoodies and sweatshirts when off duty.
THE TAILORED TROUSER: A great fitting pair of tailored trousers can see you seamlessly from the office to the school run. A cropped cigarette shape offers fuss-free elegance, whilst high waisted wide fits are leg lengthening and super flattering. All shapes look perfect with a classic Ivy t-shirt tucked in.
THE BRETON T-SHIRT: The Breton is a classic, laid back garment that everyone needs several of in their wardrobes. It will be your ultimate go-to due to its versatility and the endless ways it can be worn. With jeans and a white sneaker for a nod to nautical, a blazer for a sharper look, skirts for femininity, and clash with prints for a bolder statement
THE WHITE SHIRT: Whether its a clean fitted shape, or oversized and borrowed from your husband's wardrobe, a white shirt looks crisp and classic however it is worn. Layer under t-shirts for a preppy look, or as a kaftan on the beach over vests and swimwear to keep you cool and covered. The gorgeous unique recycled leather bag worn in this shot comes from local brand @sandalsandsunsetsuk and we think finishes this neutral outfit perfectly.
THE BIKER BOOT: The boots that will be your best friend whatever the season and that never go out of style. When you find a good pair, they really are so easy to wear and will see you through the transition from summer into Autumn, and winter into Spring.
We love the feminine biker chic look created here when worn with this delicate tulle spotted skirt and our black Layla crew. And, for a completely different look when worn with a pair of relaxed fit boyfriend jeans, our Maggie grey marl crew and long line cardigan.
THE BLAZER: Without doubt one of my guilty pleasures, simply because they can elevate a look within seconds and offer endless styling options from the different shapes, colours and fabrics available. We love how you can wear with a black Ivy t-shirt and still look casual and relaxed by pairing with a jersey blazer and boyfriend jeans, but can totally glamorise the look by adding a statement necklace, checked blazer and skinny jeans.
THE BOYFRIEND JEAN: The perfect weekend jean. Find a fit that works for your shape and feel great when worn with pumps or heals, sneakers or biker boots. We think one of the most timelessly elegant looks you can wear as shown here, is with our classic Layla Breton crew, ballet flats and finished with a stunning recycled Spanish leather clutch from @sandalsandsunsetsuk.
THE BALLET FLAT: Timeless and chic, everyone needs a few pairs of ballet flats in their wardrobe. Plain black are a must, but other nice additions would include animal print and perhaps a bright pair too. If you get the right fit for you, they are super comfortable and look great worn with tailored trousers, skirts and jeans.
